Provides ongoing leadership, guidance, and support to the Operational Excellence department, in unison with the Operational Excellence Program Manager. Makes decisions and provides employee and organizational guidance based on evidence-based practices and process improvement disciplines including but not limited to PDCA, LEAN and DMAIC methodologies.

Purpose Statement/Position Summary

Functions independently as an expert clinician, role model, and patient/family advocate in a specialty.  Utilizes the nursing process in interventions with child, family, staff, and/or community.  Functions in the primary role of consultant serving all patient populations throughout the CHLA care continuum.  Demonstrates commitment to a patient and family focused model of care.

• Consults with wound, ostomy and continence issues in both the inpatient and outpatient setting
• Educates patients, family and staff about wounds, ostomy and continence issues in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.
• Provide pressure injury prevention and treatment in both the inpatient and outpatient setting
• Communicates and listens well
• Positive & supportive team player

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience

• 3+ years of pediatric experience and 1+ year in the specialty area, or combination of relevant education and experience required.
• Certified wound, ostomy, continence RN

Education/Licensure/Certification

• Master’s degree in Nursing from an NLN accredited school or Certification in Specialty required (WOCN/ET or CVC).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of California.
• Current CPR training.
