Position Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Technician I functions as under direct and constant supervision of licensed CLS and MLT, functions as an unlicensed staff member in a licensed clinical laboratory performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. Duties and responsibilities include patient preparation, specimen preparation, client service activities, preparation and management of reagents and supplies, and performing procedures and QC functions approved by regulatory agencies. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issue of the patient population(s) being served. May be asked to take direction from a Lead or Senior level position.
Minimum Qualifications: Previous experience in a large laboratory or academic institution preferred. Processing experience preferred. Experience in medical terminology sufficient to understand and discuss technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Certification for phlebotomy when duties include phlebotomy.
